Weathertex Cladding for 1,500+ Modular Homes at NEOM, Saudi Arabia
NEOM is one of the largest construction projects in the world, and speed, scale and sustainability all matter on it. This project shows how Weathertex meets all three. More than 1,500 prefabricated modular homes at NEOM are clad in Weathertex, providing comfortable housing for the engineers, consultants and construction professionals building the region.
Weathertex is made from 97% natural hardwood and 3% natural wax, from PEFC-certified sources. It is light enough to transport and install on factory-built modules, and durable enough to stand up to the desert sun. The deep brown woodgrain boards run across the façades and are paired with sand-toned panels around the windows. This gives the buildings a warm, natural look that sits easily in the landscape.
As seen in the project images, the modules were fitted out in a factory, then assembled into two-storey residential blocks and single-storey cabin units. The surrounding community has paved walkways, landscaped courtyards, lighting and shaded parking under tensile canopies. Beautex Wood holds the exclusive licence to sell Weathertex in the Middle East and Asia, and this project shows what the product can do at scale in the region.
