The properties of Brazilian Walnut Aka IPE wood make it suitable for both interior and exterior railing applications. IPE has a long lifespan and naturally resists weathering. Even in a coastal environment, it will withstand the elements for decades.
Questions? About Brazilian Walnut
Yes, Brazilian walnut has up to a Class A fire rating which is the same as steel or concrete. It is the perfect natural option around a fire.
Ipe does not need any “sealer” in fact the wood is dense, that it doesn’t really take sealer anyways.
No, you do not need to stain Ipe. However, if you want it to stay brown, red, and dark you can coat it with a natural decking oil that is also provided by us.
Depending on exposure and treatment Ipe will probably last your lifetime. It is the longest-lasting outdoor wood, it can last up to 75 years.
