Diamonds Aren’t Just for Jewellers: A Weathertex Soffit Story
The Ceiling That Out-Designed the Floor. Look Up: SMA Just Made a Ceiling Worth Staring At Some ceilings disappear into the background. This one doesn’t let you.
At a private villa in Vashi, architects SMA (Sumessh Menon Associates) have taken the underdeck exterior ceiling and turned it into the first thing you notice. Weathertex Ecowall in Woodsman Natural is set edge to edge in a tight diamond grid, each panel catching light from a slightly different angle, so the whole soffit reads less like cladding and more like a sumptuous cheese-cube ceiling, rich, tactile, and impossible to walk under without looking up.
It’s the kind of detail that only works when the design intent and the execution are both exact. SMA’s eye for pattern and proportion meets PDA Construction’s precision on site, every panel seated true, every joint consistent, so the geometry holds together as cleanly from ten feet away as it does standing right beneath it.
This is Weathertex doing something most people don’t expect from an exterior cladding product: becoming the architecture itself.
